Read the latest Amazon review of "Blazing Upheaval" by a high school teacher who is having his students read this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Revenge and Mercy Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2024 Blazing Upheaval is the story of an elementary school teacher caught up in the Rodney King rioting in Los Angeles in 1992 and the repercussions that followed. Trying to get home through the burning and looting, Tiffany’s car is blocked and then rocked by three teens. She is rescued by men in a pickup truck who stop to help her, but one of the young men is severely injured. It turns out that both the young men who attacked her and the men who saved her are connected to her and each other through the school. Karen Charles begins the book with a quote about the futility of revenge, and we see how the almost manic drive for revenge plays out throughout the story. I thought I would read the book a chapter at a time as time permitted, but I couldn’t put it down. I ended up reading it in one sitting. In the following days, I often thought about revenge and the power of grace and forgiveness. I suggest you pick up Blazing Upheaval. You’ll be glad you did.
